Alan Campbell was an actor, short story writer, and a screenwriter. He began his career acting in school, then on Broadway, appearing in productions such as Show Boat and Design for Living. His writing took off when his stories were printed in The New Yorker, and more importantly when he teamed up with his famed wife, Dorothy Parker, to write Hollywood screenplays. The couple produced over 20 scripts made into movies. The couple was married from 1933 to 1947, and again from 1950 until 1963. Campbell completed projects with other writers as well, including George S. Kaufman.
