"Line and calligraphy have served as a record of that which is seen and heard for thousands of years. Opportunities to observe and record movement, edges, or sound with line, surround me."
-Paula Cahill

Paula Cahill was born in Detroit, Michigan. Upon relocating to the Philadelphia area, she pursued a career in the visual arts while attending Temple University's Tyler School of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where she received merit and academy scholarships. Cahill also attended Parsons School of Design where she received a merit scholarship as a sophomore transfer student. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2009 and a Masters of Fine Arts in 2011.

Cahill's paintings are exhibited in the northeast and have garnered regional awards including Best of Show in the Celebration of Life exhibit at the Perelman Center and honorable mentions at GoggleWorks and Abington Art Center. She was a Fourth Wall top ten finalist at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 2011.

Her paintings are often created from a single, continuous line that morphs from color to color, changes directions, and connects back to the beginning. Her compositions reflect the immersive and contemplative process of art creation, allowing the viewer to to have a momentary immersion into the artistic mind. Cahill sees her paintings as a metaphor for progression in individual lives and civilization in its entirety.

She continues to explore the power of abstract forms in her studio at the Crane Old School in the Kensington Fishtown area of Philadelphia.
