Summary

"As an artist, it is tempting to slip into the comfortable (and self-righteous) position of providing a verdict. My solution to this is to be compromised, to allow myself the space within the work to enjoy what I criticize. Just because something is bad doesn't mean that it isn't good."
-Irina Rabinkov

Irina Rabinkov was raised in the former Soviet Union, studying design and art history in her native Uzbekistan before graduating from the Academy of Arts in Moscow in 1980. Specializing in graphic design and illustration, she spent over ten years creating book graphics in Moscow before studying at the Graphic Institute in Israel, completing her education in 2000. Primarily known for her watercolors, her works have been exhibited from Russia to the United States and throughout Europe. Whether painting a rugged Israeli landscape or a delicate flower, her goal is always to capture and reflect upon what is most ephemeral and fleeting about the subject. Since 2008, she and her husband, sculptor Semion Rabinkov, have lived in Springtown, Bucks County.
