"Much of my art communicates a social critique of mass consumption by exploiting the paradox of consumerism and the power of iconography. I strive to make work that mimes the concepts and aesthetics behind manufactured products and that which engenders rumination on the boundaries between 'high' and 'low.'"
-Andrew R. Wilkinson
Andrew R. Winkinson is a photographer and sculptor. His photographs, sculptures and experimentation in film takes a rather mundane or ordinary object and turns it into a piece of art. After moving to Pennsylvania from England with his family, he began taking college courses in media, communications and technology. Graphic design and photography led him to his present art projects. He has also taken classes at the Bucks County Community College in furniture design.
In 1999, Wilkinson teamed up with photographer Monika Broz to create a statement on American consumerism. Their works were mentioned in The New York Times and is now in the permanent collection of the Jersey City Museum.
Wilkinson has had numerous exhibitions throughout Bucks County as well as Princeton, New Jersey, New York and Arizona.
